As cold as it was in the UK, it was even colder in Budapest in the build up to Christmas.

In the Gresham Palace, the doormen would periodically sweep out the front of the hotel, fighting a losing battle with the elements. They did, for a time, manage to keep the paving as clear as possible, meaning most patrons and walkers accumulated very little snow on their person.

December has been… shall we say, a little hectic.

Along with the usual festive build up, in work and at home, Nikki and I went on my work trip to Budapest in Hungary. To say that this Christmas holiday was exciting doesn't even come close.

Today's shot is from across the Danube toward The Four Seasons Gresham Palace, the hotel where we stayed. The 179-room Art Nouveau Gresham Palace is an essential part of the city's effort to bring Budapest's belle époque back to life.

As predicted, it has taken a while to sort out a motorbike for me.

I tried setting up test rides but various factors conspired to stop me, not least of all was the weather.

While I was waiting I did come across a beautiful bike on eBay, and while it was a little more than I wanted to pay, especially for a first bike, in the end I managed to come to an arrangement with the vendor.
