Singing!

Singing!

I honestly don't remember what Emily was singing, but she was putting a lot of effort into the song.

Today I managed to take a Half-Day Creative. These are half days taken from work where we go and do something fun and inspiring to help stimulate our creativity. I actually went out running with a camera but the light was rubbish and I really didn't get any images I was happy with, so rather than right off the HDC, I came back and worked on some of the new tutorials I have been studying.

As you can see, today's work is a foray into black and white. I'm reasonably happy with the shot, but I still have some way to go until I'm really comfortable with the process.

Today's shot is from this year's Diwali celebration and firework display in Leicester.

As I went along with the family, I didn't really get the chance to wander off and shoot. I did take some of the fireworks and this one reminded me of a palm tree.

It's been a while since I've posted anything.

I had been getting a little frustrated with my processing (and shooting).

As luck would have it — really perfect timing — my friend Ian Bursill (2014 Wedding Industry Awards Regional Winner) put me on to a new website with loads of Photoshop actions and, more importantly, a whole array of lessons aimed at getting more from your images but in a very intuitive way. Rather than just sticking to what the PS interface offers, it helps you get back to the basics of imaging and make corrections to your work in a more logical and scietific (and calculable) way. It also helps automate (or speed up) workflow, something I should have done years ago.
