2006 **UPDATE**
Wow I made the Leicester
Mercury's page on the Regeneration
project. I didn't see that coming.
Here is the last
photo from the PAD 'Days of the Month' theme. Tomorrow
starts the new 'Emotions' theme. This is not a PAD and so
we can spend a little more time getting our shots. Should
be a lot of fun so keep checking out 'imagi' and Ian's
PBase galleries to see what happens (he has asked to see
if anyone else on PBase
fancys joining in - I hope they do).
Nik Kelly has sent me a link
to more of his photos from his break in Suffolk. These are
great - He suggests using the slideshow and I would suggest
checking out the first see pod shot, the table and jug, the
chairs and window slits and the cloudy sky's toward the end
(which are a bit soft but it doesn't detract from the overall
shot). Thanks pal - they are great!
31st August 2006
Adsense have got their knickers in a twist over me asking
people to click my links and banners and have suspended my
account so I have removed their banners. What can I say? I
will just have to go with Yahoo instead!
I will post today's pic once I find something to shoot.
30th August 2006
Here is the months penultimate
shot.
29th August 2006 **UPDATE**
Wow, who would have thought it? I just have received an email
from the Leicester
Regeneration people who have just told me I have been
shortlisted in the last twenty-five of the competition. Apparently
my photo
will be on display at an event outside the Mercury
building on the 6th September between 12pm and 4pm. The winners
of the competition will be announced and invited onstage at
3pm. It's doubtful I will be able to make it as I am at work
and I already have got Monday off to shoot Nik's weaning leaflet.
Bugger!
29th August 2006
Well the month is almost up and we only have a few more PADs
left so here
is my photo for the Twenty-Ninth. It is nothing too special
but I fancied shooting something more chaotic than setting
something up. I did put the two black objects together but
other than that the objects are as they lay (since we are
moving soon the house is less than tidy).
I am looking forward to a more 'chilled out' photography
theme for the next month.
I am finally starting to feel human again (don't jinx it
I hear you say) so with any luck I should be ok tomorrow.
28th August 2006
Aaargh! It's really early and I can't sleep. My cold is getting
worse. No good deed goes unpunished as they say. This is what
I get for running around taking photos all night in a hot
room for charity when I was getting ill. Still, given the
choice I would have still taken the photos. I think I will
take a look through them now, seeing as I am up.
I have posted today's photo here.
27th August 2006
Well I am finally really feeling like shit. I had a cold
brewing on the Friday and with Poker
night and the constant photography at the birthday party last
night it has kicked in big time but I have just finished eating
a 'ruby' so with any luck it will burn out of my system. Maybe!
Here
is today's photo. This is something suggested by Nik. I wanted
to do a revisit of the alien from the 'third' day entry (you
remember - Thrid was the name because I can't spell file names
properly). However I am going with Nik's so that way I can
blame her if I don't like it. Only kidding baby!
26th August 2006
The poker room is updated. That
was a strange night. Cuisine was something else though. We
dined on kebabs, exactly as you would get them out in the
takeaways. They were absolutely fantastic - Top marks Nasty!
New image added here.
25th August 2006
I completely ran out of time with the
Leicester Regeneration Competition so I could only manage
this image.

Other than they are used in the building work I think they
have little to do with the actual 'regeneration' theme. I
will just have to rely on the public liking the image if I
am to win anything although I must admit, I am not entering
it for that (I mean a 250 quid camera aint nuthin' next to
the D200).
Today's photo is here.
24th August 2006
I think we are definitely going to be moving later rather than sooner. Nik is not too happy but I thought it would take at least 8 weeks to move. Oh well! At least the house is looking really good.
I have posted a photo
today with a difference. It is made from many photos (taken
to try out the timer function on the camera - I love the D200!)
It's nothing special but if you don't try...
23rd August
2006
I nearly died tonight playing Nik's little (or not so little)
brother at badminton. I should have won (yes that's right
Rik, no matter how you look at it).
Two match points and I just couldn't finish him off. We ended
with him leading in the fourth set so, as we had to get off
the court, he got that one and we drew. Again!
Here
is today's photo. It's a bit of a cheat but hey, this 'photo-a-day'
lark is a pain in the ass sometimes (as I am sure Ian will
testify to).
Next months theme is to be 'Emotions' to be explored however
we see fit. This is not necessarily a PAD (Photo A Day) as
we have to lay off that a bit (I think). Although if you want
to shoot everyday you can. This is ultimately for fun as well
as good practice.
22nd August 2006
Firstly let me wish Jo a huge happy birthday - which I think
she is having here.
Second here is today's 'twenty-second' photo
entry from me. If you are wondering I have shot the ducks
because, as we all know, two little ducks, 22!
Right?
Tomorrow may be the last chance I have at getting a photo
for the regeneration
photo competition. I am hopefully going to get on the roof
in the Shires
car park and see if I can get a nice shot of the regeneration
works (to a nice sun set??). The idea of a child and pensioner
seeing the city work would have been a nice shot but the fact
I only had a week leaves little time to organise that shot.
I was starting to feel a bit ill and was worried I was coming
down with something when I realised I haven't had dinner yet.
Man, I am such a dumbass sometimes. Right, enough of this
- its a bacon and eggs moment. Yum!
21st August 2006
I have a new photo
here using Photomatix
and tonemapping to get a greater Dynamic range. I am not too
well versed in the program yet but I quite like the results
so far.
20th August 2006
I nipped out to have a look at Leicester's regeneration project sites today on the way to see Nik's grandma. There are some wonderful angles to be had should I get some time to shoot there. I do, however, need more time to come up with the shot I was going to do (I would need some models). I may see if I can get back down there when the sun goes down and there is some dramatic lighting (maybe even go later in the week - although the deadline is Friday for submitting entries).
As I got off my backside and got out today I did manage to get my shot for twenty so I will post a bit earlier today. It makes up for last nights which I don't really like much at all. Still not sure why C1 PRO refused to process one image in particular but it still won't. Just bad luck I guess.
19th August
2006
Nik and I have spent a great evening over her folks house
tonight which is why I am posting so late. That and the fact
that the image I did have to post will not process through
Phase One for some reason
(it goes about half way then finishes early yielding a big
grey photo of nothing!?). The other shots I have done work
fine (typical! it would be the photograph I like that is the
one that won't process). I was going to use the shot NIk and
her Dad liked but after working with it there just isn't enough
in the shot to work in the slightest for me so I am posting
an earlier image
I took for the Nineteenth. It's nothing special but it will
have to do (I am too tired to muck around with this anymore
tonight).
18th August 2006 **UPDATE**
I cheated on
this one - I took the photo when I shot the Eighth
(it was going to be for that days photo but I preferred the
CDs).
17th August 2006 **UPDATE**
Latest photo here.
17th August 2006
James at Whoknowswhere
go over the recent articles about websites that defined the
web. I have to agree with him, not sure why salon is up there
but most of the others should be. I am surprised that there
are more retail sites because, lets face it, the net has become
a bit of a marketplace. I suppose this was inevitable really.
For me, I like Wikipedia
with all its FREE information and the fact that is it fairly
up-to-date. Although youtube
is getting high up in the raitings as Minty keeps sending
me links to it.
16th August 2006
Hello and good evening! Well I had some trouble shooting
tonight but thanks to Nik's dad I have a shot
which I am happy enough with (as it is a bit of a fun shot
for a change). I was trying some other shots but getting no-where
fast tonight. Thanks to Nik's mum for telephoning and saving
me from going crazy.
Things are a bit strange at the mo. There are issues with
the house which I won't go into too much. Needless to say,
house buying and moving is a complete nightmare.
Speaking of which here is a link
to the old television programme 'Nightmare', which literally
was. Minty, who sent it to me, kindly me reminds me of our
old past-times, ferverantly playing RPG without a care in
the world. Remember the likes of 'Detect Intent'? Yes? Made
me chuckle too guys.He also sends this link
which is tip top as is this indie
video link.
Congratulations to my friend Edel, who I haven't seen for
years. She has just given birth to baby Bo.
On another note Leicester Regeneration are holding a photography
competition which I may or may not be entering (I have
noticed that entries are due a week next friday). Yikes!
15th August 2006
Well I did have an image in mind for photography tonight
but I need Nik
here to help and it is late now as she is not back. Obviously
gallivanting around with her mates and not helping her man
with his hobby. Sniff! How dare she have a life!
Any-hew, here
is my quick shot replacement. As these sessions are helpful
in experimenting with different techniques I thought I would
use the D200's
multi-frame exposure settings. This image is processed through
Phase One but is generally untouched and as I shot it,
first go!
The reason I didn't spend too long on the photo tonight is
so I had time to shuffle the file names of the other days
so they run sequentially which looks a lot better for the
theme (thanks Ian for pointing that out).
Minty sent me through a link
to ponder over - you now the more I think about us on this
planet the more I am convinced we are heading towards disaster.
Why help your fellow man when you can kill him and have all
his land. Pathetic!
14th August 2006
Today's photo is here
and was inspired by Nik's wonderful collection of bears.
As Ian has said this 'Days of the Month' theme is starting
to get more tricky.
13th August 2006
Bloody hell! Where did the weekend go, I ask you.
Big thanks to Malc for getting rid of another load of our
rubbish - we are going to pay you in flakes, if that's ok?
We are now fully cleansed of superfluous items here ready
for our big house move. Nice one Nik for sorting all that.
I ran out of time today so my
Photo entry is a bit rushed. Check
Ian's photo out as it's great (I like the humorous photos).
12th August 2006
Aaahh, it was so nice to have a day off. I have not done
a thing (other than play Oblivion and shoot today's photo).
11th August 2006
After actually getting some time off I thought I would spend
it with my Noo. We have been watching some films and some
crap food TV program when it was time to get shooting for
today's theme entry. Having shot Nik's
pins in the front room I came to process the shot and
what do I find? Ian has beaten me to the idea with his shot!
We both have posted legs for Eleven. So as they say, great
minds think alike.
James sent me over an interesting link of a girl who shot
herself on a camera over 3 years. Kinda kool video here.
Just noticed I joked with James from work for putting his
link from his blog to here as Mat's Blog and not imagi and
I have gone and done the same thing with Scall's link. Tut,
tut! I have corrected that mistake. Scally's blog is linked
as Rock Shape Ape, as is proper.
10th August 2006
Today's photo here.
9th August 2006
I am having quite a good day today. The D80
is out and looking pretty cool (but nothing would make me
give up my D200
- not even a D2X!)
I wandered around looking for a subject
to shoot for this day of the monthly photo theme. I am a lilttle
tired but otherwise feeling good. I hope you (dear reader)
are too!?
On a light note - here is a link
for a wee bit of a giggle (if wet T-Shirts are your thing?)
8th August 2006
Oh my god I am actually starting to make headway with all
the work that is on. So I bloody should after working all
bloody weekend.
Anyway at least I am feeling better. I woke this morning
with a killer headache. I mean crippling migrane. I put it
down to the huge amounts of salt I have in chinese take-aways
which I am eating far too often (that and playing a manic
game of badminton against Craig - I lost but felt I put up
a good fight!)
Here
is todays photo for the eighth/eight. I quite like this one.
I do seem to be shooting for mono at lot at the mo'!? Obviously
can't handle colour at present.
Nik's dad Malc sent me a link
to a chap who won a photo competition locally. The guy Malc
knows from running, and he said he had a good chin-wag with
him regarding cameras. I found it interesting that the guy
chose to get a Fuji
S3 PRO and save some money for lenses rather than splash
out more for the D200
(he has a D70
apparently so he knows Nikon).
I must admit, having a D200,
I would not give it up for anything. Brilliant kit!
7th August 2006
Day Seven's photo is here.
6th August 2006
After another early start at work I managed to finish one
project and took the opportunity to shoot off to Newark to
get some photos for work - of the Robin
Hood Festival. I got some great ones of the people dressed
up as Robin, his Merry Men and, of course, the Sheriff of
Nottingham (his ones are the best!)
After I got back I had just enough energy to throw together
this
warped piece for day six of the month.
Minty has been having a musical nostalgia trip. He has been
(as he said) spamming me with loads of links to all the stuff
he has been into from day one. You always were like your brother
Minty, in for the tunes! Unfortunately as we are clearing
out most of the crap we have accumulated over the years, my
stereo - which was the amp for the PC - is no more. So I can't
listen to anything at this workstation. The laptops
are busy processing video and photos so I will have to check
out your links some other time.
Big thanks to Rich in the Big
Smoke. I will forward the cash to Rainbows
(and see if your friend is there or not Rich). That makes
all my sponsors in and now I am just waiting on Noo.
5th August 2006 **UPDATE**
I have been at work for about 9 hours today and I am feeling
so tired (I do need the weekend breaks to recover from the
week). Nik has just yelled over that she has been good too,
cleaning the flat and readying all the superfluous items we
have for the tip. So I am not posting much tonight other than
my PAD for the monthly theme. So here
is my photo for the fifth, or in this case for 'five'.
4th August 2006 **UPDATE**
My fourth image is posted here.
4th August 2006
You have to check
out this gallery of a hair-lipped cat - so kool! (Mum
you reading this?)
3rd August 2006 **UPDATE**
I have posted the image
for the 'third' or 'three' from our 'Days of the Month' photo
theme. It's kinda fun!
3rd August 2006
In nice and early again for work... Mwaa ha ha, ha ha,HA
HA... Sorry about that. Seems it is all getting a bit much
at the moment. I need a holiday!
I have taken the photo for today (after changing my mind
on the target subject a few times) and will post it later
when I get a mo'.
2nd August 2006 **UPDATE**
Ha, Ian has just put up his second
on this months
theme and it is frickin' awesome. I love it!
2nd August 2006
New photo image here
(I like this one lots) apart from the clock is really grubby
(I must clean more).
I am having a spare moment or two and enjoying some retro
sounds of ' the the' and other bands I used to listen to with
the Bretton crew back in the day.
Ah, to be young and reckless again. Man, I miss going out
all the time and hanging out down the pub. Of course the body
couldn't take it now-a-days. I had some great times with the
gang back in the borough. I just wish I had more photos to
help me remember all that we used to get up to.
Hey, gang, if you are reading this let me know if you have
any photos and picture from back in the day. It would be great
to see it all again. John I know you still have the video
of parties at mine. You have gota get it converted to digital
so I can post it (maybe - I can't remember quite what is on
it? Nothing too scandalous?)
That reminds me, John, Burt, Scalls, Nik, Neil, Dean, Stephen
(you in Ireland??) - you wana come up/down to visit and stay
at my new pad, when it is ready?
1st August 2006 **UPDATE**
Chris Scally has sent me a link to his blog filled with his
illustrations. He exudes talent and now is turning his hand
at digital artwork. As you can see from
these pieces his has a lot to offer.
1st August 2006
New month means new images on this page and a new monthly
photography theme - this one provided by Ian at Work. Each
day of the month (i.e. the first, the second) is represented
visually in a photograph. It can be as simple as having five
objects for the fifth or as tenuous as a picture of something
famous that happened on the fifth of a month. That is up to
the photographer. Once again this is to get the juices flowing
and to get out there and shoot stuff. It also is a PAD project
which means whomever shoots must ad a (P)hoto (A) (D)ay if
possible.
My first entry is here
- courtesy of my photobuddy Ian posing. Thanks pal!
Thanks to mum for shooting me (above) with the D200 - the
photo goes well here on imagi's home page for August (although
who ate all the pies? I did! I did! Ah well, to be happy makes
me podgy, thanks to my Noonuss). |
