At The Swan

In keeping with the subject matter from the last shot I posted, here are more swans.

This is also an entry for the Photo Friday website, for which this week's challenge (or rather for two weeks this time) is titled "Cameraphone shot'. The photo was taken on my iPhone today at the pub called The Swan where Nikki, her folks and I all had lunch.

We almost were the lunch as when we were eating our sandwiches in the garden swans decided it was their feeding time and approached us with the intent of relieving us of our dinner. In the true spirit of tribal man they got more than they bargained for when they tried to take my food. No over-sized chicken was getting near my tucker. The old opposable thumbs came in useful when I grabbed a bit of garden furniture and fended them off while the family ran with the supplies.

Later, having felt a bit bad for shooing the swans on their turf I elected to go outside with the lady from the pub and feed them. This is when I took the opportunity to snap away.

Moral of the story – Beware the name of the pub as it might indicate the indigenous species that might issue forth at around feeding time. As you can imagine I declined an invite later to go to the Bull's Head!
