To the palace

December has been… shall we say, a little hectic.

Along with the usual festive build up, in work and at home, Nikki and I went on my work trip to Budapest in Hungary. To say that this Christmas holiday was exciting doesn't even come close.

Today's shot is from across the Danube toward The Four Seasons Gresham Palace, the hotel where we stayed. The 179-room Art Nouveau Gresham Palace is an essential part of the city's effort to bring Budapest's belle époque back to life.

Christmas time in Hungary was magical. Whether it was sampling the cuisine and mulled wine at the local Christmas market or visiting the amazing tourist spots in the capital (some of which I photographed and will be posted later) there was so much to see and do.

The sheer opulence of the Gresham palace was exhilarating and the food was magnificent. There's something to be said for having all the services that staying at The Four Seasons brings. No sooner were our towels used then fresh ones were delivered to the room. By the time we got back in our room from a quick trip out then we were greeted with fresh fruit, drink and cakes. To be honest, after a while, it all got a bit mind blowing.

All in all it was a perfect way to truly starting the build up to Christmas and it helped all of us (from work) really enjoy the days up to the holiday.
