Before the run

Before the run

I took this photo before the start of the Race for Life Run 2008.

Nik has managed to cover a few miles since then. It turns out the run we did to Broombriggs Hill was over 10km, and last night I ran with Nik's brother and dad another 5 miles. I am not sure what's going on. I really do feel like Forest Gump. I want to run everywhere.

I am not sure when I will post again. The next few days are a bit busy but I will try and squeeze in a photo (or two). After the weekend I should have some shots from the Rainbows Summer Spectacular, providing it doesn't rain down.

Black Hole Sun

Black Hole Sun

I have been on the computer a fair bit tonight and now have found myself processing another photo.

Now this shot originally was a very colourful flower bud. I just fancied making something a little different with it. As usual I would love to hear what you think.

For the record. I used some Photoshop actions to intensify the colour of the photo. I then turned it mono with a black and white adjustment layer, then tweaked with a few other adjustment layers, cropped and sharpened.

Nik, her dad and I went for a slightly harder run yesterday than we have done in past weeks.

Not only did we manage to run a 10km track but we also went up and down loads of hills too. I suspect this was all planned by Nik's dad Malc. He is a veteran runner with a great stack of medals to prove it. As novices I am amazed we managed the track, but manage we did. Nik particularly did well, never giving in and making it all the way. You have to understand she used to stop even when we only ran 3km. Not any more! :)

It's a beautiful day so naturally I am inside processing a photo.

This is another shot of Roxy, this time with Nik's brother Rik. I contemplated toning this black and white so tried a sepia effect but in the end felt the plain black and white worked just fine as it was.

I did manage to take some shots in the garden. There are a few macro shots and a couple of wide photos which I may process next. One of the photos could be used as my submission for the VFXY theme this week, which is circle.

Nik doesn't like this shot at all but I think it's fun. Besides I needed a photo with a bit of colour, something landscape and with a bit of emotion.

I have lots going on at the moment so I haven't had too much time for photos. Hopefully I should get something new this weekend, with any luck.

For those who don't know the Dark Knight is released this weekend. I normally don't go to the cinema. Being 6' 4" tall I don't tend to fit very well in the seats and I have to be comfortable to watch the screen, especially if that screen is 4 metres high. The last Batman film was great fun and I have been looking forward to this sequel.

Flight

Flight

I was umming and arring over what to post for the Photo Friday challenge this week.

There is nothing new I have shot that I particularly like so it was back to the archives. I found some shots from Tenerife that I took on the flight over there which had a lot of colour. They were pictures I shot through the plane window of the setting sun above the clouds but as I started processing them I decided it really wasn't working for me.

Next I looked at some shots I took of birds but nothing really grabbed me. Then I remembered a shot I had processed back last year. It is very abstract (for me) but I really liked it at the time and I want to post something a bit different on this times challenge.

Today's photograph is for the weekly theme at VFXY.

I am off in a moment to run another 5km (like last Sunday) so I shall be brief.

The shot is from a set of photos I took of a swan in Swithland near where I live. Typing this reminds me I wanted to see if I could integrate a location reference option to my blog for Google. That way when people visit and see a shot they could also see where the photo was taken. I must investigate further.
