Silhouettes of many small birds Blog Header

Cold times ahead, but that is ok as I usually get very hot taking lots of photos! Prepare yourselves, Halloween, Bonfire night and then Christmas approaching. The grottos are already forming.

Cutting the cake
31st October 2007

I thought I would use the dream action for this shot.

Cut the cake

I hope Rachel and Jey like me processing all these photos. I tend to send over the link to the new photo I post every day which I think I would like if they were for me.

Halloween night! I have managed to avoid it nicely by going swimming. It's not that I am a old git who doesn't like kiddies having a bit of fun. It's just that last year I bought loads of sweets and no bugger turned up! Then I got in trouble because Nik ate all the sweets!

Needless to say, this year I am not risking it.

Together
30th October 2007

I can honestly say I don't want a big wedding when Nik and I get married, (if she will have me after this long). Nik will back me up here, as she wants to get married somewhere hot.

Together

Besides, Rachel and Jey's wedding was so great it would be impossible to beat.

Wedding chat
29th October 2007

I did say to Rachel, Nikki's friend from Uni, that I would put together a DVD for her of my photos from her wedding. So I am catching up with a few shots that I took with some, like this one, being nothing special in particular but still adding a certain something to a collection of wedding photos.

After all, a world of masterpieces only is a very ordinary place indeed!

Wedding chat

Here then is another wedding snap with more later this week.

The bride
28th October 2007

Some more wedding photos to come. Here is the first.

The Bride

I was hoping to get out to shoot some more but rain has stopped play.

Chloe
25th October 2007

I know, I know. Technically, not the best shot in the world. But I just love the look she is giving so I had to post it.

Wooden World
23rd October 2007

Another Autumn photo here today.

Wooden stake, photographed above with leaves behind

Nik and I have booked our holidays finally. It will be so nice to get away somewhere warm as England, it seems, is entering another Ice Age.

Brown is back
20th October 2007

Hooray! I actually managed to get out for a quick walk around the villages, and I took the opportunity to snap a few picture of some of the lovely Autumnal colours.

Leaves turning brown on a garden fenceWater flowing in a river near brown leaves

This I will post a few photos here today in case I don't get the chance later this weekend.

The Dark Tower
18th October 2007

Anyone remember that electronic fantasy game from years ago called the Dark Tower? I had it when I was a boy so it must be almost 30 years ago now. It was a board game with this electronic tower in the centre and you had to wander about a fantasy realm, collecting money and keys from ruins and dungeons, raising an army to take over the tower at the end. I always remember the sound the tower made when you went to a Bizarre (marketplace) and it played some music that sounded like it was from Alibarbar or Sinbad. I would love to have a look at the game now. My god it would be so dated, but I tell you, It really fired my imagination playing it.

The Dark Tower

This real tower photograph is actually from near Newark-upon-Trent, from a collection of shots I did for work over a year ago now. I am putting it up as I see the same light that is bathing the tower then all over the place at the moment. You really have to love that fresh, bright Autumn light and how it illuminates the trees, bare with only the last vestiges of their annual bounty left.

I am scrapping back through old stock as, again, I haven't been out this year yet to capture a little bit of Autumn. Maybe at the weekend?

Commuting
16th October 2007

Finally my girl is back tonight. It's about time! I don't sleep very well while my lady is away.

Commuting

I took this photograph while sitting on the train on its way to Birmingham the day I went to Adobe's workshops on CS3. Not sure I would like to have to do this journey every day.

Home alone
14th October 2007

My Noo is off on a conference which is pretty crap. On the plus side I got voted first in the list of noteworthy photo entries on the Photofriday website. It was for my entry for comfort, which I used my baby shot of little Chloe from the wedding I have been posting shots from.

Swansong

It is strange this should happen now as I really haven't photographed anything is so long. Other thing have been keeping me busy in my spare time, so I hope to get out at some point and take some images in the near future.

The theme for Photofriday this week is the real world. I am not sure I can capture an image to represent this seeing as I haven't really been living in 'it' for while, my head firmly looking at a VDU instead.

Incidentally, the new Bionic woman series is quite good fun, helped not least by a very gorgeous Michelle Ryan.

Finally, it seems wedding bells will be chiming soon in the family. Nik is so excited she could burst, and I have to say I am kinda too! I will elaborate soon.

The world is Glass
11th October 2007

I watched the Illusionist tonight with Nik. I really enjoyed it, especially the score which was composed by Philip Glass. The poor people at work. Now I have to have a session of his contemporary music tomorrow which I know will drive everyone insane. I will have to balance it with a few other requests from the studio.

Leaf Detail

Something different today. Here is a flower detail from my garden, for my Noo.

Gangstar
10th October 2007

One of the highlights to the wedding of Rach and Jey was a magnificent performance by the kiddies of a sort of Bangra-style dance in three parts, depicting marriage, its pitfalls and ultimate restoration.

Ganstar

Here one of the smaller dancers really gets into his role.

By the way, I am not sure if any of you people out there suffer from this, but why when you have an appointment do are most dentists always run half-an-hour late? Is that one of those idiosyncrasies that, if you were to work it out, would drive you mad or kill you?

And why does the telephone always ring when Nikki is in the bath!?

20 inches
9th October 2007

Who ever said 'size isn't everything'? My new Apple Cinema display is finally here and I have to say it's already settled in quite nicely. It is so cool to have a contrasting screen with colour I can make out really easily.

Hillies

Tonight's photo is of my Noo's parents, so I know she will love it.

Alcohol is evil
6th October 2007

Errr... Drink is bad for you! (On the plus side, at least I know what to ask for next year on my birthday. A complete change of blood!).

'Birthday weekend of fun!'
5th October 2007

The guys are coming up for my birthday - Menagerie Minty and Nick 'da daddy' Kelly. If you are lucky I won't post anything here. If you are unlucky, heinous photos of drunken old men may adorn imagi soon. We shall see...

I have re-read my post about the photos last night. I think the photographers have put up so many shots to let people choose which ones they want, but I still think they should have weeded out the shots that don't work very well.

I know Ian, (my photo buddy), spends a lot of time 'looking' at photos, deciding which have aesthetic merit. I think you want that kind of service, with the artist helping you to 'trim the fat' and make those wedding photo collections something magical and manageable. You don't want to bore the relatives to death with the wedding album or screen presentation, do you?

That said, because I am a photographer, I would want to be involved in the selecting process; and drive any such photographer potty!

Good job Noo and I will marry on some beach in the middle of nowhere then. Maybe? If she will have me?

Bouncy castle mayhem

Ok and more wedding photos above. I am posting this one because I promised the bride I would put up the shot with her garter showing.

I am 36
4th October 2007

I am 36! Which I find strange since my waist is also 36. Once again the cosmic tumblers aligning!?

Champagne Glasses full of Champagne

I know our friends felt their wedding photos didn't have enough good shots of them together so here is another one from my collection for them. I can't actually believe their photographers provided so many shots (1100 in the end!?). Personally, I would prefer less with more feeling and quality than a barrage of images from the day. Lets face it, if photography was just about being there and snapping away any muppet could do it.

No time, no time
1st October 2007

I'd love to post more but work is killing me at the mo'.

Champagne Glasses full of Champagne

I can just about manage this quicky.
