The two mill towers at Timken Desford Steel Ltd, Desford, were levelled on sunday.
The mill has been closed for a few years now and slowly, but surely, the building has been torn down.
The whole demolition was marked by a charity event to raise money for the breast cancer centre in Glenfield hospital.
It was fair to say the event had a few hitches. Both towers, even though they were blown up, stubbornly refused to fall over. What happened next would have been at home on 'Robot Wars'. One of the large nibblers with a huge claw on the end then set to work on the tower. You can see what I mean here.
So we were treated to a round of Claw Vs Tower. The Claw won!
Oh, and apparently Richard Hammond was supposed to show up but, like the chimneys demolition, that didn't go to plan either.
